Rumsey Hall Finance Club Welcomes Guest Speaker Allen Kovac

At Rumsey Hall, students are given opportunities outside the classroom to explore their own unique life interests. One way students are encouraged to expand their knowledge and abilities is through participating in a student club. Each of our diverse clubs is run by a faculty member with expertise in the subject matter. The Rumsey Hall Finance Club brings students together to gain an understanding of the world of money, and regularly invites speakers with relevant experience in the business world to come in and speak to students. Over two consecutive Tuesdays, the Club was excited to welcome Mr. Allen Kovac, the founder of independent label Better Noise Music and its film division, Better Noise Films. Over his storied career, he has managed a huge range of artists, including Blondie, The Cranberries, the Bee Gees, and Motley Crue.

Mr. Kovac spoke to the assembled group about entrepreneurship and his life experiences that shaped his wildly successful career path in the music industry, starting out with new artists and small venues all the way through to major record labels and globally recognized acts. He shared that throughout his career, he has always sought to explore opportunity and build connection, and ultimately looked for ways in which he could partner with and support independent organizations and labels, eventually starting his own independent label with a talented roster of musical artists. He also spoke about how utilizing new technology and fostering relationships can be key points in managing a business. It was an inspiring talk, packed with life lessons and entrepreneurial insight!
